
About India Post GDS Notification 2024
In July 2024, the Government of India, through the Ministry of Communications, invited applications for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) to fill various posts such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks in the Department of Posts. The application process started on July 15, 2024, and ended on August 5, 2024. Candidates were given an extra time from August 6 to August 8, 2024, to make corrections to their application forms if needed.

India Post GDS Salary details
As per the notification, the salary for different GDS posts is as follows: Branch Postmasters (BPM) receive a Time-Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 29,380. Assistant Branch Postmasters and Dak Sevaks get a TRCA ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470. In addition to the basic pay, GDS employees are also eligible for allowances like Dearness Allowance and social security benefits such as GDS Gratuity and Service Discharge Benefits.

There are a total of 44,228 vacancies in this recruitment, with 442 vacancies for Jammu and Kashmir.
There is no written exam for these posts of GDS. Instead, candidates are selected based on their performance in the 10th grade exam. The merit list is based on the marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination.
India Post GDS 5th Supplementary List (Jammu and Kashmir)
This recruitment process aims to fill GDS positions across India, which will help improve postal services in rural areas. After submitting the online application, candidates have been waiting for the merit list to be released. The 5th merit list for Jammu and Kashmir was published on January 27, 2025. Candidates should visit the official India Post GDS website to download the merit list in PDF format and read all the details mentioned in it.

Shortlisted candidates must bring original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies. The required documents include Mark sheet, Date of Birth proof, identity proof, caste certificate, PwD/EWS certificates, transgender certificate, medical certificate, etc. Candidates should carefully read the full details about document verification in the notification on the official India Post GDS website.
